This is what it is all about!!!!

I have decided to take a break from blogging and computers for a while. Its impossible to stop crafting but I will skip the blogging part of it all. I would like to thank you all for your ever so kind comments and appreciation of my LittlePoppins stuff. This does not mean though, that I will forever be lost in cyberspace. I will probably be back some time this fall. Until then, have a great summer! I will be spending mine in lovely Sweden.

Someone told me that the 80s are back in business. That means that these "pillow case" style dresses should be spot on. Girls liked it because it had a guitar, i like it because of the "potrable cassette player". Girls does not know what a Walkman is, they looked at the drawing and asked if it was a car??!!

The wedding we went to yesterday night was fabulous! The girls had a great time and enjoyed all the attention they got from being so cute in their little dresses. The reception started at 19.30 and dinner where served at 21.00. The girls fell alseep on the way home and slept like little angles.

Every time the girls see me make new brooches they ask me if it is for them. And every time I have to tell them that it is for mommy's brooch box. Mind you, they already have their own collection of my hand made brooches so they don't really need any more. However, the last few days they have actually asked me for "Hello Kitty brooches to put on their jackets to go to school". It's the first time they have actually asked me for something this specific so I thought I would honor their request. The nose looks like a piggy nose though, but the girls where over the moon and proudly went off to school this morning!! Over all result, success!

Today we spent the whole day over in Palmanova and Magaluf. If was nice and sunny and I think, and hope, that the spring has finally arrived. The girls even kicked their shoes off and tried out the water. To cold for mommy though!

After nearly two months of letting the sewing machine just sit there in the corner to collect dust I finally pulled it out. Here is the result. Something that was easy and quick. Little zippy purses in oilcloth. The felt flowers are stitched by hand. Cant wait for spring to arrive!

Today we have been to a Birthday Party. Little Africa turned 2 years old and good weather, as you can see on the photo, combined with nice food and happy people made the day complete! Tomorrow we are going to another party! Busy, busy.....

Carnival times.

Yesterday was Carnival day at the girls nursery. Its that time of the year here now you see. At first they where meant to where their Spiderman suits, but then, the day before they just refused!!! So, after confirming with 2 stubborn 3-year old sweet children, that they wanted to dress up as princesses instead, I had to make some skirts that somehow resembled a princess outfit. So the skirts where made the day before (or more like the night before!) the event. A simple design turned in to these two skirts. The girls where over the moon happy in the morning when they saw them and happily got dressed to go to school. That was my reward!!

They all went together with their teachers to the small village square to play for like half an hour and take pictures.

I have been taking a break when it comes to stitching lately. Family life is right now at the top of my list and the girls take all my time at the moment. We do however craft together, like paint, play everyday with dough, print with our hands and yesterday we did 2 necklaces that we are going to send to the girls aunt and uncle. I hope they will like them. I have do admit though, that after like a month without stitching it is starting to itch in my fingers so lets see if I have something to show soon.

Not a lot of crafting going on here. I am busy cooking and planning for our Swedish Christmas party we are going to have this weekend. Friends and family are coming and the girls are over the moon excited. Then in a week and some odd days we will be leaving for Sweden. We are going to celebrate Christmas in my hometown Karlstad with my family there. Cant wait!

This is the result of all that cutting I told you about the other day. Me and the girls took them all to be sold at the home party yesterday. People seemed to like them which is nice!! However, I still have a lot left so if anyone is interested let me know. I am selling them for 5 € plus postage, if they have to be sent out somewhere. Or if you just want to swap....??!! Yet another Lego bracelet design. This time with wooden beads as well. I have to say though, crafting can be very dangerous sometimes....I almost got a severe injury while drilling all the tiny little holes in the pieces of Lego!!! That does, however, not stop me from doing it all again tomorrow. I am making a couple of these to bring, together with some other things, to a friends house at the end of November. I am hoping they will find some new owners there!

I have been out and about with the girls all day today. I know I usually just complain that they are a handful, but today they have been SO good and we have had SO much fun together. I have not been doing much crafting this week. Girls keep me busy and when they are at school there is always something else going on. Anyway, I did however make this little pouch. First time stitching a zipper turned out ok. But only ok, I need to practise! I think however that I have to ask Santa for a new sewing machine for Christmas this year. The one I use now, called Real 510!!!!, is starting to give up on me. I got her at the local hypermarket and she has been very good up until now. But it is time for something else, maybe a bit more advanced than the 2 types of stitches my dear Real can do!! I will send my list to Santa and hope that he will get back to me with something good!

Another pair of old, to short, trousers that have been altered to fit one more season. Since I am a "stay at home mom" in a country where you get absolutely nothing from the state this has proven to be a great way to save some extra "dolares"! And the girls are actually very proud, parading around in the park, showing off their new pants that their mama made from old curtains and so on!! So there you go!!!

Its only 9 weeks and some odd days left until Santa knocks on our doors. This means that I have already started to think about Christmas gifts and homemade decorations. The above pictured bracelets are the results of watching the girls play in their grandfathers garden last weekend. The blue ones are 5 separate ones and the white is one long with a little shoe, a Buddha and an elephant. This one is going to be a gift for a shoe crazy friend of mine, for her birthday though. I hope she will like it!

This is before and after. The pants where way to short but they fit perfectly otherwise. So mommy transformed them and also decorated with a Hello Kitty patch. The girls where over the moon with happiness when they realized that Hello Kitty had a "patinete", scooter. Our favorite toy at the moment!

My grandmother is here visiting me for one week. In between entertaining her, the girls and trying to keep up with the ever so boring housework there is no time over for any kind off stress released crafting. I did however paint the kitchen this past weekend, turquoise. So now the kitchen wall matches my kitchen apron!

Today's stitching resulted in a pair of "way to big pants". They where meant to be for I and M to use at school. I only made one pair, which was good since they turned out like 2 sizes to big, as you may see from the photo. I used a new pattern and wanted to try it out. Anyway, we took them with us to park today and gave them to a friend of I and M. She is one year older so they should fit her perfectly.

This little house is based on a tutorial from Molly Chicken. The original house is smaller though, made of linen fabric and with beautiful embroidery. But since my embroidery skills are close to non existing i decided to use fabric with prints instead. I also made it bigger, the front is 15 cm wide. Now is is all done and ready for the girls to put their little things in.

Finally done! It basically took me all summer to do this. I think the yarn is actually ment for socks but when I saw it in the shop I liked it so much I could not resist. Feels a bit strange to "modell" something made of wool though since it is still like 30 degrees here in Mallorca. But I cant wait for the weather to get a bit cooler so that I get to wrap myself in my new shawl.

It is fig season here on Mallorca now, so my father in law brought me a whole box full of them yesterday. I like, I like!!!! This is the beauty of living here in the Mediterranean. All the fresh fruit and vegetables that you can get, sometimes almost for nothing. And it all tastes soooo nice.

New felt and button brooch. Unfortunately I will not be able to use it because as I was pinning it on the the red jacket to take a photo, a part of the pin fell off. You know the little part that you use to lock it in. Anyway, at the moment it is decorating a photo frame. Since I glued the green hart on top off the pin we will see if I have the energy to change it.

Girls are still a bit to small, 2,5 years old, to do any advanced crafting. But when it came to painting these cones they gladly helped mommy. They even helped put the beeds on the strings. It was so much fun to do this together with them. Since they dont have a lot of patience things have to be quick. So this project was perfect! Now they prodely walk by every day saying that "I made that"!! Sweet things....

My mom is making these beautiful crocheted scarfs. She is so good. She made this one while visiting me in Mallorca.

I was so inspired that I had to try it for myself. So this is the result of my first ever (!) attempt to crochet; a dolls blanket. I need to fasten all the loose threads and also cover the back with some fabric to even out the crocked sides. Hopefully the girls will want to play with it when it is done.

The girls helped me put together these gifts for the teachers at their preschool before we left for Sweden. It is a "thank you" card together with a button flower brooch. They really love helping mommy and always want to join me when I am crafting. Sweet little things they are!

Got this trolley as a gift from Rättvisa barn. It is an Emmaljunga from 1980-something. My mom has redone it a bit, made a cushion to sit on and also covered the handlebar with new fabric. It is lovely! Thanks mom! Since it is about 20 years old, I guess, it is much more narrow then the new trolley we have back in Majorca. At first I thought this would be a problem and that the girls would not be comfy. But I was so so wrong, THEY LOVE IT!!! The cuddle up together, fall asleep on top of each other and want to go in all the time. Success!!

The blanket is a thrift find I picked up a few days ago. Goes perfect with the trolley!

Here I am again. I know I have not been posting in ages but this is because I have been so busy first with my mom visiting for two weeks then my little cousin, age 10, came to visit and then preparing for my yearly 2 months in Sweden. I have now finally arrived at my moms house and can after settling in start enjoying my holidays and hopefully also spend some time crafting. Mind you, the girls will be with me all the time so they will also help with the crafting I guess. Hmmm...

Since I have not been doing ANY crafting at all the last few weeks I have nothing to show. I can however show you something else "homemade". These beautiful dresses are all made by ladies volunteering for the Red Cross. The make them to be sold in the second hand shop, Kupan, run by the Red Cross in Karlstad, Sweden. So cute and a perfect fit for the girls!

Hard to see in this pic but I could not resist to turn my little girls drawing in to a bird. She did the brown part and then I added on the red (head, wing, tail and one leg). I love doing this with their "art"!

Girls first dummies now proudly decorates the wall in their room. They got very surprised when they first saw that mommy had put their dummies on the wall and immediately wanted them down. After a long discussion they finally let them stay where they where.
